"Empowering Rural Students for a Brighter Future"

For eight years, the Rotaract Club of General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University has organized Project Sisu Saviya to support rural Sri Lankan students. In 2023, the project aided 150 students at Galbada Athuruwella Maha Vidyalaya in Induruwa. Phase 1: provided school supplies, infrastructure improvements, and nutritional support. Phase 2: renovated the science lab, ensuring safety and functionality. Phase 3: offered leadership sessions, enhancing students' study skills and confidence. Project Sisu Saviya demonstrates a commitment to educational development and community empowerment, fostering resilient and responsible future citizens.

Akuren Akurata

"Strengthening Skills, Mastering English"

Akuren Akurata was an 8-week English education initiative at Uyana Junior School, Lunawa, aimed at enhancing language skills in Grades 3-5. Phase 1 focused on interactive lessons to build vocabulary, grammar, and confidence. Phase 2 culminated in an English Day, where students showcased their learning through performances and activities. Phase 3 introduced a customized English curriculum, ensuring project sustainability by equipping the school with structured lesson plans. This initiative empowered young learners with essential language skills and provided teachers with a long-term framework to continue English education effectively.

Kruthaguna

"Honoring Our Heroes : A tribute to Courage and Sacrifice"

Project Kruthaguna, the first Community Service Project of the Rotaract Club of KDU, honored the sacrifices of war veterans from Muhindu Seth Madura. The day began with a peaceful visit to Bellanwila Temple, followed by a special lunch where veterans shared stories and laughter. An engaging entertainment session with singing and interactions brought joy, fostering connections across generations. The club also donated 50 light bulbs and gifted mugs as tokens of appreciation. This heartfelt initiative celebrated the veterans' bravery, reinforcing values of gratitude, community, and kindness while leaving a lasting impact on all participants.

Riot

"Mind Matters Always"

Project Riot is a mental health awareness initiative aimed at educating school children on well-being. Conducted alongside Project Rise Beyond, it has completed three phases in schools like Sri Sudarshana Vidyalaya, Batapotha, Battaramulla, Dematapitiya Maha Vidyalaya, Matara, and Udamakadawara Kanishta Vidyalaya, Kegalle. The sessions covered essential topics such as meditation, drug prevention, time management, and stress management, equipping students with valuable coping skills. Through interactive activities and discussions, the project fostered awareness and resilience, promoting a healthier mindset among students.

Merry Little Hearts

"Spreading Joy, One Smile at a Time"

Merry Little Hearts was a heartwarming event held at Lady Ridgeway Children's Hospital on December 21, 2024. The initiative aimed to spread joy and bring smiles to the young patients by organizing a day filled with fun activities, games, and entertainment. Volunteers engaged with the children, offering them gifts, treats, and interactive sessions to brighten their spirits during their hospital stay. The event created a festive atmosphere, bringing warmth and cheer to the children and their families. Merry Little Hearts was a beautiful expression of kindness, compassion, and the power of community support in times of need.
